My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease when she was 64 years old. I thought the disease would slowly progress, but was wrong. As heartbreaking as it seems to be, I have learned to appreciate each minute with mom.
I look beyond the disease. I see her smile, the tender look in her eyes, and the way she holds her hand out to take mine. We live in the moment and receive unexpected blessings that carry us throughout the day.
This my journey with Alzheimer’s. Join me at The Hat Lady. Laugh, cry and be inspired by one beautiful women who may have forgotten how to complete simple tasks, but has never forgotten how to love.
