Book Review: Dead on Deadline

Dead on Deadline by Lara Bricker

I love a good cozy mystery, and this is one of them. It's the first book in the Piper Green Exeter Mystery. In the beginning of the book there is a map of the town depicted in the story. I love it when authors do this. When you get this book, look for Aunt Gladys' house. It's adorable.

The story follows Piper Green, a journalist who returns to her New England hometown of Exeter. She takes a part-time job at the local newspaper while caring for her elderly aunt. During an assignment, Piper stumbles upon a murder. To make matters worse, her co-worker is the main suspect. With the help of friends, Piper sets out to prove his innocence.

There are great characters in this book. Gladys, her conservative yet feisty aunt may be up there in years, but she still has spunk. Her best friend owns the local bakery where she stops every morning for coffee. There is also the local police officer and her crush.

Although this is a fictional story, there are some real-life facts.

Exeter, New Hampshire

Exeter is a real, historic town in New Hampshire. Its history goes back to the Revolutionary war.

American Independence Museum

The American Independence Museum is home to many historical artifacts. It's also home of one of the original versions of the Declaration of Independence.

American Independence Festival

The American Independence Festival is a yearly event held in Exeter. It's a celebration of freedom and the beginning of our nation.

This is a great story. I cannot wait for the next one.
