God is working through the storm

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:19

I got the call just as my head hit the pillow and quickly realized there would be no sleep for me that night. My dad was rushed to the hospital with a very high fever and an off-the-chart sugar level.

The doctor told us he was very sick and we should consider calling loved ones. After family and friends arrived, I took a few minutes to myself and prayed.

I asked God to heal him. I knew a healing could go two ways. He would be healed either here on Earth and remain with us or he would be healed In death.

Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. - Exodus 14:16

Moses did not know what was going to happen when he saw the Egyptian army marching toward him. With the sea on one side and an army on the other, there was nowhere to go. It must have seemed like a hopeless situation.

But Moses knew what to do. He went to God. He trusted God would provide a way for them.

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. Exodus 14:21

The east wind is mentioned several times throughout the Bible. It is a fierce wind that can destroy ships (Ezekiel 27:26). It’s not mentioned weather or not the Israelites felt the wind, but it was there while God was working miracles for them. When we trust God to work on our behalf, we might feel the wind. But we can rest because, God is in the process of making a way for us to move forward.

I find it fascinating that God not only parted the waters, he made the ground - the bottom of the sea - dry. It seems like a small detail. But if the ground was wet, it would have been a muddy mess, making it hard to travel. God cares about every small detail in our lives.

I felt the wind while God was working on behalf of my family. There were unexplained medical issues that disappeared and family members reconciled. God provided paths for us to walk through the storm that we didn’t even know existed. The biggest blessing of all was God healing dad here on earth.
